Introduction and WHY the Strange Blog Name

I wasn't born a runner, but like all additions, it snuck up on me and here I am. I post this picture first because this is me in all my running glory. I look at this picture and all I can see is a body not built for running. That if you saw me on the street, you wouldn't know that I run 4-5 days a week 3-6 miles a day, and workout at the gym 3 days a week. The glitter in my hair is another added bonus on this journey to becoming the person God wants me to be.

Why the weird title? Spandex became my best friend when I started running. Not so much to "slim" my figure, but to hold my body together. I joke with my kids ( I have 5 ages 15-22) that the spandex and compression pants hold together this body that has seen 15+ surgeries over the last 25 years. They have included 3 C-sections and 1 experimental spine surgery that they weren't sure I would ever get up and walk away from. My entire right side muscle in my stomach isn't where it should be. They had to stick that near my tailbone to fill some "dead space" in my body.

That is just some of what this blog is going to be for me. Recording my journey and hopefully inspiring others to see that if I can run, you can be active too, however that looks for you. No excuses. Now I may never run a marathon (although my goal is to do a half marathon in the next year or so!), but I can accomplish more than I or anyone else ever thought I could.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."
Hebrews 12:1
